Firelands Habitat for Humanity builds homes and offers 0% financing on a 25-year mortgage for our Partner Families.
To become a Partner Family you must meet 3 criteria:
- Need for housing.
You may qualify for a Habitat home if your present housing is not adequate, and if you are unable to obtain adequate housing through other conventional means. Lack of adequate housing may include problems with the present structure; water, electrical or sewage; heating system, etc. Also taken into consideration are the number, the ages and the gender of children compared to the number of bedrooms in your present home. - Ability to pay.
You must have a minimum annual income of at least $23,680 to qualify for a Firelands Habitat home. We also consider your current level of debt-to-income. You will be required to openly and fully discuss your financial situation with Habitat personnel. - Families must demonstrate their ability to pay monthly mortgage payments, which will include monthly payments for real estate taxes and insurance. Families must have the financial resources to meet all other living expenses and obligations.
- Willingness to partner with Firelands Habitat.
Families must be willing to partner with Firelands Habitat, which means volunteering to help build Habitat homes. Partner families must work at least 400 hours for a single parent household or 500 hours for a couple.
